Chemises, Smocks & Shifts

All of our chemises, smocks and shifts are custom made to order and can be designed, modified or altered in any way desired. We offer both historically accurate and period inspired underpinnings. If you'd like to order a different style than pictured here just let us know.

The Medieval chemise has a rounded neckline and extends to the floor. Chemise gains fullness through side gores. Long sleeves taper to wrist and feature underarm gusset.

The Elizabethan smock, also sometimes referred to as a shift, has a low square neckline and close fitting long sleeves. Smock extends to the calf.

Seventeenth & Eighteenth Century Chemise

Seventeenth & Eighteenth Century Chemise

Custom made historically accurate seventeenth and eighteenth century chemise can be worn for a wide range of periods. Chemise has a ribbon drawstring neckline that can be adjusted to be worn on or off the shoulders. Elbow length sleeves are very full and also have a ribbon drawstring at the edge. Neckline and sleeves are trimmed with lace.

Regency Shift Front Regency Shift

Historical accurate Regency shift has a drawstring rounded neckline and short sleeves. Shift extends to mid-calf and has underarm gusset.

Civil War Chemise Front Civil War Chemise

Historically accurate Civil War period chemise features a wide yoke neckline that sits slightly off the shoulders with lovely short puffed sleeves. Sleeves feature underarm gussets and front of chemise closes with two buttons. Yoke of chemise and sleeve arm bands are trimmed with lace.

Victorian/Edwardian Combinations

Combinations became popular during the end of the Victorian period and became a staple undergarment during the Edwardian period. Combinations are a chemise and drawers combined together reducing bulk at the waist. Center front has button closure. Neckline and leg openings are trimmed with lace.
