This striking Civil War gown is made from black moiré taffeta which feathers a lovely watermarked pattern and black velvet accents. We apologize that the quality of the above photos are poor and do not show the richness of this dress. The gown skirt feathers a lovely cut out velvet design around the bottom of the skirt that is trimmed on all edges with black gimp trim. The day bodice is fully lined and boned with spiral steel boning. It closes in the front with 11 covered buttons. Bodice is accented with a lovely 3 inch wide Venetian lace trim around the shoulders. The day bodice bell sleeves are trimmed with black velvet and black gimp trim around the sleeve opening. A lovely white crocheted collar accents the day bodice. The ball bodice laces up the back and features a black velvet bertha cinched in the center front. The lovely matching hat is built on a buckram and wire frame and is covered with black moiré taffeta and trimmed with velvet, feathers, ribbons and silk flowers. Sold together as a six piece set: day bodice, ball bodice, crocheted collar, undersleeves, skirt and matching reticule (not shown).
